World Hairdressing Championships to be held concurrently with Hair and Beauty 2014

It’s time for Frankfurt! – Frankfurt’s star hairdressers on the city and the OMC Hairworld World Cup

mfOMC, Organisation Mondiale Coiffure, and Central Association of the German Hairdressing Trade (ZV) will hold the OMC Hairworld World Cup in Frankfurt from 3 to 5 May 2014 and transform the ‘Festhalle’, the ‘Forum’ and Hall 3 of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre into the arena of the international hairdressing elite. In 2014, the modern Hall 3 will be the home of Hair and Beauty and host the top brands of the hair-cosmetic industry. Five of Frankfurt’s internationally renowned hairdressers – Klaus Peter Ochs, Hatice Nizam, Achim Reich, Tobias Tröndle and Bert Dylus – talk about their links with the city and why Frankfurt is the perfect venue for the World Hairdressing Championships.

1.) How would you characterise the hairdressing scene in Frankfurt?
Klaus Peter Ochs: Frankfurt has a multi-cultural society and is dominated by banking and the financial sector in the centre and the lively districts all around. And this shapes the hairdressing sector in Frankfurt. In the districts, there are lots of individual salons. In the city centre, there are numerous traditional family companies. While, of course, the big chains and luxury salons are to be found in the
shopping centres.

Hatice Nizam: We in Frankfurt are very heterogeneous, multifaceted and very creative. HaarWerk is internationally oriented – in terms of hair and fashion trends, our clientele and our team. Our staff comes from many different countries.

Achim Reich: The hairdressing scene in Frankfurt is as diverse and exciting as the city itself. It has to be. The customers range from students to bankers, which means the wishes and expectations differ greatly. In Frankfurt, you will find a wide range of salon concepts to cover this demand. It is extremely important that a salon defines its target group and concept – from the furnishings, via the price structure, to the service quality – in terms of its target group. Each of our three arthair salons stands for passion and creativity. However, they also offer something for every type of customer, e.g., a super styling during a shopping expedition in Salon City, an individual colour and care treatment in Salon Nordend or a trendy cut for young and young-at-heart customers in the Cutting Club. As I said,
something for everyone.

Tobias Tröndle: The hairdressing scene in Frankfurt is as varied as the city itself. There are the international luxury salons in the Triangle d’Or (Goethestrasse – Fressgass), the neighbourhood salons in Sachsenhausen and multi-cultural hairdressers in the area around the railway station.

2.) What makes Frankfurt distinctive?
Klaus Peter Ochs: Frankfurt stands out because it is the focal point for the entire Rhine-Main region. Here, a culture dating back hundreds of years meets ultra-modern architecture, e.g., in our banking district, which is known locally as ‘Mainhattan’. Hatice Nizam: Frankfurt is cosmopolitan. Here, you encounter the whole world in the form of both private (tourists) and business people.

Achim Reich: Thanks to its blend of the traditional and modern, Frankfurt is exactly the right place to hold Hairworld 2014. As a cosmopolitan business centre, the location is ideal for welcoming guests from the worldwide hairdressing sector. After a creative day at Hairworld, guests can party in one of the numerous clubs or wind down over a glass of cider in one of the many traditional inns.

Tobias Tröndle: Frankfurt is a city-sized village with temperament and internationality – heart and business.

Bert Dylus: Frankfurt is one of the world’s business hubs. As a result, it is becoming ever more multi-cultural. This, in turn, inspires the fashion and beauty scene and, in the last analysis, impacts on our creativity and generates new impulses for growth. For us, all this, not to mention the location in the heart of Europe, means a resounding yes to Frankfurt as the venue of Hairworld 2014.

3.) What do you find inspiring about Frankfurt?
Klaus Peter Ochs: As a result of the cultural diversity in our city, there is a wide variety of additional, interesting offers in all fields. In Frankfurt, you will find a spectrum of concerts, galleries, cuisine from
all over the world and cultural exchange – topical and on the highest plane – that is unrivalled by many cities around the world.

Hatice Nizam: Frankfurt is in a permanent state of flux. It changes continuously and there is always something new going on.

Achim Reich: For me, Frankfurt – ‘Mainhattan’ – is the unmistakable skyline, a blend of modern and classic architecture – the perfect place for creativity and lifestyle. Day in, day out, I gain inspiration from the people in the city, the customers in our three salons and, of course, my team. Every day, we create new styles and trends and do our utmost to fulfil our customers’ wishes with regard to cut, colouration and styling.

Tobias Tröndle: ‘Mainhattan’ with the banking scene and the great cultural landscape it sponsors.

The five Frankfurt hairdressers can also be seen in the Hairworld Film of Messe Frankfurt. They appear in the following scenes:

1) Culture: Klaus Peter Ochs at My Zeil Color Circle, Flagship Salon Wella, Grosse Eschenheimer Strasse 25a
2) Lifestyle: Hatice Nizam, HaarWerk, Kleine Hochstrasse 6
3) Nightlife: Achim Reich at arthair Flagship Salon Paul Mitchell, Eckenheimer Landstrasse 20
